“How do I make my flowers last longer?”

Below are a few simple steps to carry out every couple of days for your roses, to ensure maximum longevity and enjoyment.

  • Firstly use a clean vase which is washed properly. Then fill it with warm water ¾ to the top.
  • After dissolve the rose food in the water (please read instructions at the back of the packet). Packet Fresh Flower Food will increase the life of cut flowers and should always be used.
  • Remove water tubes & cut one inch off the bottom of each rose stem at a 45-degree angle. Make sure that the roses are not left out of water for too long. This will result in short life span. Using a sharp, clean garden shears or a sharp kitchen knife will ensure that the roses are cut at a perfect 45-degree angle and the stems will absorb enough water. Please take precautions while using the sharp objects. Leaves that will be below the water line in the vase must be removed. Leaves that fall into the water will contaminate the water resulting to bacteria and fungi, causing roses to die early. DO NOT remove all leaves along the stem length, the roses need leaves as part of their hydration process. Gently remove some leaves to avoid them falling in the water. It is advisable to use appropriate gloves for the removal of rose thorns and leaves.
  • Keep roses away from ripening fruit because they produce Ethylene gas given off, which will shorten the lifespan of your roses. Avoid heat sources & direct sunlight. Keep your roses in a cool place with lots of shade.
  • Roses always need water. So, change the water completely every 1-2 days, adding more flower food after each water change. Always cut your rose stems every time before placing them back in the water.
  • . Gently remove old or discolored petals as they wilt or bruise, this will result in new petals and roses will stay looking fresh.
